Lifeline Ukraine is a national, professional, suicide prevention and mental health support hotline, operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Ukraine too often loses veterans to suicide, and this problem needed to be addressed, Lifeline Ukraine was established to provide help for veterans and their family members first and foremost, the hotline now serves all people from Ukraine in any language they chose.
Lifeline Ukraine was founded by Paul Niland, an Irish writer and commentator and businessman who has been a resident of Ukraine for almost 20 years. The project was initiated in 2019 at the request of the then Acting Minister of Health, Dr. Ulana Suprun. The project also enjoys support from the Ministries of Veterans’ Affairs, the Ministry of Social Policy, and the Ministry of Defence.
The business community acknowledged Paul Niland, Founder of Lifeline Ukraine, for creating Ukraine's first national suicide prevention hotline, Lifeline Ukraine, to save people's lives, focused first and foremost on helping Ukraine's military veterans. The awards were presented online in the framework of AmCham Ukraine Thanksgiving season.
From September 8th until December 7th 2021 Lifeline Ukraine is co-funded through a grant from the European Union, represented by the European Commission in Ukraine.
